Grade Lasers

Are you looking for an accurate and easy-to-implement solution to your grading and leveling projects?

Establishing the correct grade or leveling for a project area can be time consuming and difficult. A mistake can have carry on effects that can cost serious time and money down the line. The grade lasers carried by Precision Outdoor Tech are designed to get your projects completed correctly and on time. We carry both single and dual grade devices and many of our lasers are equipped with special features such as automatic levelling, and temperature change compensation.

Using a Grade Laser with a single construction worker

Grade Lasers can improve accuracy, save time, and save money for your grading projects.

In the past, grading and leveling involved transits, grade rods, several personnel, and complex calculations. With today’s technology, the rods have been replaced by digital receivers, the calculations are done automatically, and the most modern devices are easily operable by one worker.

How They Work: Grade Lasers Establish Plane to Guide your Leveling Projects

Our grade lasers establish a baseline plane to guide your leveling projects. Grade lasers operate with a spinning laser located in the upper housing of the device. A receiver downrange set to the required grade angle ensures that the correct declination of the laser is achieved. Once set up, any point within the range of the laser can be measured to determine how much soil, concrete, or asphalt needs to be added or removed to bring the grade to level.

The lasers carried by Precision Outdoor Tech are either single grade or dual grade. The single grade lasers are popular for projects where only one grade at a time is being established. The dual grade lasers can be used on projects where two different grades are being worked on at the same time.

How Grade Lasers work on Construction Sites

Popular Grade Laser Applications

  • Construction Site grading
  • Excavation
  • Foundation Work
  • Paving
  • Parking Lots
  • Runways
  • Sidewalks
  • Landscaping
  • Contour Farming
  • Drainage Work

There are many innovative features available on our Grade Lasers

Self-Leveling: Many of our Grade Lasers have automatic axis alignment for simple set up: no more fiddling with minor leveling adjustments.

Temperature Change Correction: Active temperature compensation provides accurate stable results regardless of temperature changes.

Grade Match Mode: Allows you to match the laser to an existing slope. Simply set your receiver at the same height as the transmitter then after going to your remote point, press a button on the wireless remote to enable the transmitter to automatically match and display the grade

Radio Remote Control: Allows grade reset from a distance. This is a useful application when a single operator is on site or when the foreman needs to make adjustments without stopping work.

Bluetooth Connection: Allows some grade lasers to be controlled via smart phone.

Height of Instrument Alert: Unit stops rotating when jarred to avoid erroneous measurements.

Considerations on choosing the Right Grade Laser for your job

Accuracy: First and foremost, is accuracy. Grade lasers remove many potential human errors from grading projects and calculations, but some models have a greater degree of accuracy than others.

Range: Different lasers have different ranges. Make sure to choose one that will reach the boundaries of your work area.

Ease of Use: Many grade lasers have simplified start up screens and self-leveling mechanisms help to remove the frustration of set-up and take-down. This feature reduces your training/on-boarding time while reducing user error at the same time.

Durability: Construction sites are dirty, dusty, wet, hot, and cold. Most of our lasers have high IP ratings with models demonstrating durability ratings ranging from water resistant to waterproof and from dust resistant to dustproof. Protect your investment with the IP required by your working conditions.

Rotation Speeds: Faster speeds are better for outdoor use, especially on sunny days. Slower speeds are more applicable to indoor use.

Visible vs. Infrared: The Spectra GL722 is available in infrared. This type of infrared beam may be required in special applications where a visible beam is a safety hazard, distracting, or otherwise not permissible

Error Prevention Mechanisms: Special features such as automatic axis alignment, temperature change compensation, height of instrument alert (this stops the unit when jarred due to wind or accidental bumping: hey, it happens!).

Mounting Brackets: Many units are available with different styles of mounting brackets. Choose the brackets that make the most sense for your jobsite. If you need to order brackets that are not included in a particular package, give us a call and we will help you out.
