The LD-7 Leak Detector uses sound to identify leak locations

Water from a line leak can travel a long distance before breaking the ground surface. The LD-7 lets you stop chasing leaks on surface water expression alone.

The LD-7 is an acoustic listening device consisting of a microphone attached to an amplifier. With the microphone sensor placed on the ground in the search area, the amplifier will transmit any leak sounds received into the headphones worn by the operator.

The louder the noise, the closer the leak location. Keep moving the microphone along the ground surface above your line. When the loudest sounds are heard, you will have located the line break.

Due to its lightweight and compact design, the LD-7 leak detector can easily fit behind a truck seat or into a large toolbox making it perfect for utility and plumbing professionals on the go. It comes with a hard plastic carry case to store and protect your device while on the job.

The amplifier is controlled with a finger switch that cuts the sound off and on with the press of a finger. The louder the sound, the closer the leak location.

Features of the LD-7

The LD-7 leak detector microphone

The microphone can be used by applying the sensor plate directly onto the ground surface. This method works best for listening on streets and concrete slabs.

To search for leaks in soil, attach the contact rods to the microphone baseplate and then to insert the rods into the ground directly above the pipeline.

A magnet on the base plate can also be used for direct contact with hydrants, valves, and meters.

The LD-7 acoustic amplifier

The amplifier converts the low sounds of the leak into sounds within the human-audible range and transmits them into a set of headphones. The LD-7 has a compact amplifier with a finger switch that can turn the sound on off at the push of a button. This is an important safety feature designed to protect your hearing while moving the microphone sensor.
