Save Time, Money, and Frustration: pinpoint leak locations BEFORE you dig

The LD-12 is designed as a listening device for water leaks. It consists of a microphone attached to an amplification device with noise filter capabilities. With the microphone sensor placed in the search area, the amplifier will transmit any leak noises received into the headphones worn by the operator. The louder the sound of the leak, the closer you are to the break.

Water can travel a long way from a leak source before breaking the ground surface. Eliminate guesswork by using the LD-12 to zero in on the precise leak location before you dig.

Don't get distracted: The LD-12 can filter out background noise

To ensure that you can concentrate on listening for leaks, the LD-12 amplifier includes six frequency filters to screen out non-relevant noise. This allows you to cancel the hum from traffic, transformers, power lines, and other background noises.

The six selectable filters are split into three “low side” (100Hz, 200Hz, or 400Hz) and three “high side” (600Hz, 800Hz, or 1200Hz) ensuring that you have plenty of filter choices, no matter what your locating environment.

You can use the contact rod or magnet attachments on the microphone to listen for pipeline leaks at hydrants, meters, and valves. This direct connection will allow you to listen for leaks along long lengths of pipeline. The meter on the amplifier allows for direct measurement of loudness, eliminating guesswork.

Then Pinpoint the Leak: zero-in on precise leak locations.

Once the section of line with the leak has been identified, the contact rods can be removed from the ground microphone. The operator can then work down the identified length of the pipeline listening for the leak directly through the ground surface.

The microphone has been optimized for listening through pavement and concrete slabs, but it can also be used on grass or dirt by inserting the contact rod into the ground above the buried line. As with the leak survey, the louder the sound of the leak, the closer you are to the break in the line. The meter on the amplifier allows for direct measurement of loudness, eliminating guesswork.
