The Pipehorn 800-HL: quick and easy utility location

Designed as a more versatile and powerful version of Pipehorn’s 800-H locator, the 800-HL has both high and low frequencies. This enables the unit to work optimally in congested areas and to perform long-distance locates. The Pipehorn 800-HL easily locates utilities such as metal pipelines, cables, tracer wires, and traceable fiberoptics. The locator can even be used for non-conductive pipelines if a sewer snake or trace ribbon is inserted into the line first.

Pipehorn 800-HL Pipe and Cable Locator Transmitter In Use on PipelineThe unit can function conductively when known lines are partially exposed, or inductively when scanning for unknown or unmarked utilities. The transmitter sends a 9 kHz or 480 kHz frequency into the line being located. The receiver wand reads the signal that has been transmitted along the line, tuning in to the specific frequency output of the transmitter. This enables the operator to trace the buried pipeline or cable and to mark it along the way. The unit has both audible and visual responses for buried lines so that you can be sure of the readings.

The Pipehorn 800 goes deep

Designed for deeply buried targets, the Pipehorn 800-HL can locate lines at depths of up to 18 feet in ideal environmental conditions. Even with this high sensitivity, it is rugged, watertight, and durable enough to withstand the roughest work conditions.

Easy to learn, easy to use

With intuitive audio signals that indicate proximity to underground pipes and cables, learning to use the Pipehorn 800-HL is simple and straightforward. Please refer to the video below for a demonstration of a Pipehorn 800 locator in use.
